The Story of The Houses
I never planned to make these houses, but it all started with one I couldn’t have.
I saw a handmade gingerbread house, full of tiny details and it stayed with me…
In my heart, I wished someone had given it to me. It felt like the kind of thing made to bring a little love and joy.
So I decided to try making one myself. Just one. See what happens.
I still remember finishing that first house and that’s when it hit me, That same feeling I imagined when I first saw it. A little spark of love, warmth, and care all wrapped up in something I’d made with my own hands.
After that, I couldn’t stop. I displayed it at home, and when a friend saw it, she was amazed. She said they were too special to keep to myself.
The idea stayed with me, quietly at the back of my mind. It took me a while to come back to it, but once I did, I just kept going. Each house was a little different, and that’s what I loved about it.
For me, that’s what these houses and everything I make for Sugar & Paper are really about. A small way to send a little love. Whether it’s for yourself or someone else, it’s something to bring joy, warmth, and a reminder that someone cares. That’s the heart of it.
