Inside the houses

Each Sugar & Paper house is handmade with love and care. The outside is where the sparkle and charm live, but inside, things are kept simple. Think of it like the back of a theatre set: it’s not the part you’re meant to look at, just enough space to tuck in a little light and let the magic glow.

What’s it like inside?

This note is just for houses with a light-up option. If yours has an opening roof, here’s a little peek inside. You might spot cardboard, paint, glue, or a few wobbly edges. This is completely normal. Each one is built gently by hand using recycled materials where possible. If you notice a reused piece tucked inside, it’s like a tiny hello from me, a quiet reminder that even small scraps can be part of something special!

Lighting it up (optional)

You don’t need to open your house, but if you’d like to place a tea light or fairy lights inside, the roof can be gently removed. Tea lights or fairy lights are not included.

There’s a small space inside where you can place your own light. Battery-operated tea lights or fairy lights work best, especially if you’d like to keep the roof on. They’re simple, safe, and give a lovely warm glow.

Popping the Roof Back On

To help you put the roof back on the right way round, there’s a small sticker on both the roof and the house just match the sides up. Then give it a soft little wiggle and guide it into place. The tops are snug but delicate, so a gentle touch goes a long way. For round houses, don’t twist the lid, just rest it gently on top without screwing or forcing it, as twisting can make it harder to open again.

Please also keep your house out of reach of children and away from anything flammable. Use of lighting is at your own discretion, and Sugar & Paper is not responsible for how it’s used once the house is in your care.

A little note

The inside isn’t where the magic lives. But the whole house is full of heart. And it’s made to shine in all the right places.
